Blue and Gold Macaw For sale

Feeding & Care

Do not feed birds fruit seeds, avocados, chocolate, onions, apple seeds, uncooked beans, uncooked rice, alcohol or caffeine as these can cause serious medical problems, and kill them

A Blue & Gold’s diet should consist of 70% pellets, 30% fresh fruit & veggies.

They need a lot of daily social interaction so they can bond with your “flock” both direct face to face, and indirect just being around the family.

They can be very destructive which is why they need a variety of toys to keep them mentally stimulated, and from getting bored which can lead to self mutilation.

They need a variety of different sized perches to help exercise, and stretch their feet.

Blue & Gold Macaw’s (sometimes referred to as the Blue & Yellow or a Blue) sweet personality, and beautiful bright colors is what helps make it one of the most popular Macaws kept as a companion bird.

The Blue & Gold from beak to tail is between 34 to 36 inches. The coloring is blue on the back, and wings. The chest, and legs being a golden yellow. Their forehead, and head are a blue/green coloration. Their beaks are black, and they have a white skinned face with small black feathers in unique patterns for each bird. They do blush as people do on the whites of their face when extremely excited or stressed.

Blue & Gold Macaws have a sweet loving personality, and playful attitude. As with all parrots they must be socialized to keep this personality they’re so well known for.

They live 60 to 85 years, and some even older due to modern healthier diets, exercise, and mental stimulation. Macaws are not a parrot for first time bird owners, and a lot of thought, and consideration should go into the idea of getting one for a companion bird
